Mrs Elliott - Reception

Mrs Elliott

I have been teaching the Reception class at Meadowside for over 10 years, and I am also SEN co-ordinator and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. I love working at Meadowside because of the camaraderie amongst the staff, the positive atmosphere and the lovely children! I have two sons who went to this school and have both gone on to University. In my spare time I love sports and fitness and have completed the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride eight times!

Miss Collins - Year 1

Hello, I am the Year 1 teacher at Meadowside. I started in June 2015 and already feel a big part of the Meadowside family. I have worked as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant for 6 years a St Peters School in Harrogate and St Nicholas School in West Tanfield. During this time I studied part time for a BA Hons Early Education degree. My passion in life is to help others, because of this I volunteer for Just ‘B’ a bereavement support service for adults and children and I also lead the Junior Church in my local community. When I need to relax I jump into my kayak called Dunk’n’ and paddle in the Lake District. I also enjoy travelling and have worked in an orphanage in Ghana and toured Sri Lanka. Other hobbies include all types of dance and I have toured Europe on dance tours and performed in the West End. Miss Collins

Mrs Maiden - Year 2 (on maternity leave)

Mrs Maiden

My role at Meadowside is Key Stage 1 Leader and teacher in Year 2 and I have worked here since September 2011. I love animals and have a dog called Merlin, a Mexican Milk Snake called Maria (who has visited school) and a Bearded Dragon called Bradley at home. We also have class pets - Bubbles the goldfish and some dancing stick insects! I enjoy travelling and took a year out between studying Psychology at University and my PGCE. I went to South America where I climbed the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and visited the Galapagos Islands. I also went to New Zealand, Fiji then Australia where I worked on a farm for four months. I then visited Hong Kong and China where I climbed the Great Wall of China and finished my travels in Thailand.  Since then I have also been on Safari in Tanzania, visited the Grand Canyon in Las Vegas and been surfing in Hawaii.

Miss Blanks -Year 3

I have been teaching at Meadowside for just over a year and am currently teaching year 3.  Any of the children I have taught will tell you that I love sports and in my spare time I am often at the beach surfing or out on my skateboard! Other hobbies of mine include dance, squash, horse riding and rock climbing. Last year I also took up running and had a good laugh running the bed race! I love working at Meadowside School because it’s such a happy place to be; everyone walks round with a smile on their face!

Mr Leverett - Year 4

Having had a successful career in the private sector, I was able to follow a dream and build a second career in teaching. My ambition was always to be able to make a difference and teaching certain enables you to achieve that. Every child is an individual; with individual needs. I see my primary role as one of coach: to mentor, support, encourage and most importantly to empower the individual child in their learning.                                                                                            Outside of school - my wife and I have the joy, and challenge, of raising our three boys. One in KS1, one in KS2 and one who has just started high school (who appears to be 12 coming on 15!).  I also run our local town,s U9's football team (made the error of offering to help out one day).  If, rather than when, I get some free time, I really enjoy running which I find very therapeutic and is normally responsible for my more abstract lessons!

Mrs Murdoch - Year 5

Originally from Northern Ireland, I moved to Harrogate in 2004. I am married and have two children, a girl and a boy.

In my spare time I like walking, reading and spending time with my family. I also enjoy travelling and have visited Kenya a number of times, spending six months teaching in a boarding school there in 1998. I also took a gap year between my completing my degree and starting my teaching training. During this time, I travelled to Australia where I worked and holidayed for a year which led to me meeting my husband along the way! I then travelled around Bali and Thailand during the remainder of my trip.

I have been teaching at Meadowside since Sept 2011 and have mainly been based in Year 5. I am currently the Science co-ordinator and have also been involved with leading Music throughout the school.

I love working at Meadowside because of the friendly atmosphere and positivity amongst the staff and children. Everyone is so supportive of each other and there is a real sense of working together to achieve success.

Mrs Bowman - Year 5

Hello, my name is Mrs B and I teach Year 5 on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays. I started working at Meadowside school in September 2008 and over the past 7 years I have married Mr B and had 2 little girls, Evelyn and Martha.   I love being a teacher and seeing children excited about their learning. I have lots of favourite subjects, but especially enjoy Maths and ICT.

In my spare time I enjoy reading books, going to the movies and spending time with my family.

In school I have been involved with projects involving overseas schools, "Going Green" in Eco-Club and supported the children in winning £1,000 for the school through a recycling challenge. All the children I have ever taught will be able to tell you about my love of hippos! I have a collection of hippos at home that have been given to me by past students including plenty of soft toy hippos, drawings of hippos and even a hippo key ring with my name on!

Mrs Corkhill - Year 6

Miss Corkhill

Originally from the North East, I have lived in North Yorkshire for 14 years. I live with my partner and son (and two step-children part of the week) in Harrogate.  In my spare time I like to visit my family in Newcastle, see friends, go to the cinema, swimming and walking.

I have been here at Meadowside since Sept 2011. It's hard to say what my favourite subject is; the "a- ha!" moments that we share are priceless and it's so lovely to see everyone so keen to learn and remember key facts. If I had to choose though then I'd say Maths. I also really enjoy sport and drama.

Overall I love working here as part of our Meadowside family because all of the children and staff are caring, supportive and we all share a common vision in sowing the seeds to success - and I am so proud to see how well we are growing together.

Miss Brown - Forest Schools

Hello! I'm Miss Brown and I have worked here at Meadowside for 14 years as a class teacher, Art specialist and, more recently, as the Forest School Leader.    Whilst my background is rooted in my passion for art and music, I have always loved being outdoors in nature and absolutely love my job leading all our children (and grown ups) on adventures into our very own wild woods at the bottom of the field.  The learning opportunities outside are endless and the children come in exhilarated and excited regardless of what weather they have been subjected to!!

Outside of school you will generally find me busy with family, drawing, cooking, walking and adventuring as far afield as I can with two energetic children in tow!
