Student Council (School Voice)

Meadowside School Council (known as Meadowside School Voice) is run by HLTAs Shirley Smith and Denise Robinson.  The School Voice consists of two pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 who were democratically elected by the children to represent their class.  Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month.  At each meeting all members are given the opportunity to voice opinions and to offer any suggestions for future projects.

Since last September members have successfully set up links with a school in Gambia.  The School Council organised fundraising in order to purchase a toilet block and running water for the school.  £262 was raised which was enough money to complete the project and the school was extremely grateful.

In December the Student Council organised a Christmas jumper day in aid of Save the Children and £126 was raised.

The latest fundraising is for the Guide Dogs.  Our aim is to sponsor at least one guide dog puppy.  The whole school is supporting this project.  Our target is to raise £300 per puppy.  So far we have held different fundraising activities for each year group and held a guide dog merchandise sale.  This is our current on-going project.
